    For over four million years, parasites have populated the earth, leading a little-explored life in the shadows of science. From a biological standpoint, people’s general loathing of parasites is ill-founded. Parasitism is perfectly common among living things. More than 50 percent obtain their food from an alien host. Since the invader needs the host to survive, but the host wants to get rid of the uninvited guest, there is a permanent struggle between them.
